N.M. Bodecker Papers 1954-1991

N.M. Bodecker's papers focus on his work as an illustrator and author of children's books. the collection contains production material for twenty-seven titles published between 1954 and 1991 and two calendars published in 1974 and 1975. It includes manuscript material including holographs, typescripts, and notes, illustrations done in a variety of media, some with separations, sketches, dummies, proofs, and photocopies. There is also some holograph notebooks for unpublished titles, holograph notebooks for talks and classes given by N.M. Bodecker, correspondence with one of his pulbishers, and unpusblished illustrations from an untitled book.

N.M. [ Niels Mogens] Bodecker was born January 13, 1922 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He studied and served in the military in Denmark during the 1930s and 1940s and published his first poetry and book illustrations there during the 1940s. N.M. Bodecker came to the United States in 1952 and illustrated his first American children's book, Half Magic by Edward Eager, in 1954. For the next three decades, N.M.
